Aside from doing a burnout and seeing if there are two marks or one, is there any option code or package that would indicate this? I am looking at several 2001s and I want a concrete way to know this...

Look for the following code(s) on the chasis sticker with the driver's side door open.
B01B for M/T
and
B02C for A/T
Correct me if I am wrong.
Also, it's fairly rare on the 01's.

And unless you drive a lot on slippery surfaces, or, as you say, want to do burnouts, you probably won't need it.

heated seats, it doesnt have LSD.
If you want to have a quick check, jack up the rear by the diff carrier, and spin one of the tires, if both tires
spins the same way you have a LSD.

sides (open) while my M3 Turbo spins the same way in the air (closed) and we call that LSD.
Maybe Im thinking the TRD diff is the true LSD while both tires spin the same way in the air?

From having worked at lexus dealerships as a intern for the last two years, I know that almost all 2001 SBM IS300 came stock with LSD if you had the leather/escaine package. I also own an 2001 SBM IS300 too with LSD. The LSD really does help you alot when exiting corners hard or if you have FI. Hope that helps.
