Default Optima Batteries...

I have noticed that a lot of people have Optima batteries in their cars, but I was wondering if it was worth it and which batery will fit into the IS. I went online and their website said that no batteries fit into the car. I also read as much as I could on the differences between their product and a normal battery...but in order to sell them I am sure they have to pitch their item.

I am running a lot of aftermarket electronics through my 2002 IS and I would like to know firstly if the battery makes a difference...and secondly, which size to get. Thanks a lot for all of your help.

I might be able to help you with this one as I have the Yellow Optima in my 02 IS. They Yellow will fit into the car no problem... the only thing is you will have to untie a few of the Battery cable ties to get the extra distance you'll need and you will have to have an extension off the terminal to make it reach. There may be other ways of doing this but that is what I had to have done in mine.

Since I've gotten the Yellow Optima the car starts right up and I have not experienced any other problems. I too have alot of aftermarket goodies in the ride so this has helped.

Hope this offers a little insight so good luck.

You should be able to buy it at any Auto parts store (Napa, Kragen, Good Guys, etc....) Hope this helps.

Ebay has it from a couple of their reputable Ebay stores. Just make sure they are an authorized dealer if you want a warrantee. Bought 2 yellow tops in the past, no problem.

you might want to lok into the super light gel cell batterys from Hawker/Odyssey....

the PC925 is strong as hell & half the size & less htan half the weight of the OEM battery or any Optima.

I relocated my battery to the trunk & at the same time started using the Odyssey PC925 & the thing is *****en./ SUPER light & Solid as all hell...

takes up less than half the space as a regular battery

I do not have ANY ICE in my car. so having huge battery power/ supply is not an issue.. . these tiny little batteries are good for a decent sound system .. the usual Amp & a sub or two... etc... but not so good if you want to bump all day in parking lot having a Kegger before the Game....

Good luck!! &. check my cardomain pages for pics of the battery relocation...

moving the battery out of that spot makes for a perfect space to route my Intake filter & create a block off plate/heat shield for that battery space & possibly ven the hoiod to the air right there as well & add some Cold Air capability from the hi pressure area at the cowl eventually
