I just bought the Poineer touchscreen DVD/NAV setup. I find it WAY better than the stock setup and to the tune of $1300. Dealer parts alone may run you triple that!

2001 IS300 models are not "pre-wired " for the Lexus Navigation System. It will be a splicing nightmare and you WILL need a 2001 AND 2002 factory service manual to identify each wire for a successful install.

2001 and 2002 have different wiring harness.

I also like the stock look but why go thru the hassle for something trivial. I'e grown to like my touchscreen setup in the stock NAVI location. Its better than fumbling with that goofy joystick.
I turned to the darkside of aftermarket.

One more thing you need to be aware of stock nav is that you can't do nothing while driving. You have to stop and then it'll let you punch in new address. I use the OEM nav housing with Pioneer system and it look so stock, most people wouldn't even know.

I can teach myself from there; and I would search for all this but seeing how everyone here is an expert, figured I'd ask . Your assistance will be greatly appreciated

I also am planning on adding a sterio system I purchased and pieced together. Sony XES T1, P1, C and so on etc...... All together I'm looking at KILLER sound. Can't wait!
