Question

Any idea why when I use the auto settings for the climate control that the air conditioning won't kick in regardless of how low I set the temperature? The a/c works fine if I manually push the button though...

Assuming the auto climate control on the IS works like my GS, the AC button has to be pushed in (lit) in order for the automatic system to use it. With it lit the system will use the AC as needed. If you don't push it in it can't. I leave the AC button pushed in all the time.

SO does this mean the AC is not running? I think it is still using the power of running the AC, i use the ac in the winter at times to clear the fog..

My understanding is that the climate control system will engage the AC when it determines it is needed IF the AC button is depressed and the light is on. I don't believe the AC compressor runs all the time but the system engages the AC clutch when needed.

As I said I always leave it lit so I also can use it in the winter to dehumify the interior and eliminate inside window fog.

I'm told by my Lexus service advisor that it is intended to be engaged all of the time for climate control purposes. As someone else noted, it should all be covered in the manual.

Of course if you encounter a "challange" situation where every bit of HP helps I would turn it off until you dusted the opposition and wish to cool off a bit.
