Hi all -
Been a while since I've lurked on this forum! Anyways, my '03 just hit 30K and I'm ready to do the service, but since I'm just now starting to work on my cars, plz excuse my sorry newbie questions
Here's what I need:
1) Replace engine coolant - what's involved? (is this just straight up drain/refill?)
2) Replace break fluid - what's involved? (is this just straight up drain/refill?)
3) Re-torque drive shaft flange bolts - what's the torque setting?
4) How long do the break pads last? How about rotors?
5) Are there any inspections/replacements worth taking the car to the shop?
Anything in particular that I should check for at this mileage (besides the scheduled maintenance book listings)? Do you guys have any useful links to writeups about servicing this car?
Thanks all!

1) Drain and refill
2) Drain, fill/bleed
3) I don't have the service manual in front of me right now.
4) Brake pads should last a while depending on driving style. Rotors should be turned when you replace the pads.
5) If you're not familiar with transmission stuff, I suggest taking it to a qualified tech to do a power flush and refill. Not just a fill and drain but a full flush.
BTW, i'm at 45k on my 18 month 2004 IS300. Still on stock brake pads and rotors.
Good Luck!

Oooh power flush for the e-shift models I meant to say. I always used a 30k rule of thumb to change the gear oil on my Solara SE V6 Manual.

just make sure to use the toyota red coolant..
the green stuff will be corrosive over time
and if you drain and fill use the toyota ATF
you can use the opportunity to upgrade the brake fluid Dot 4 over Dot 3..should last longer and stay cleaner (supposedly)
check is300.net or my.is now
..there are several write ups on how to drain tranny fluid and replace...
