Default First Upgrade to is300

Hi, I just bought my first IS300 last month and have just passed 1000 miles. I want to start upgrading the car but I want to keep the power modest. 300hp tops. As far as my novice reading can take me, it looks like upgrading the intake and exhaust are the first couple items that make a difference.

I am just looking for a little advice about what upgrades to make. I have heard horror stories about upgrading the intake and having the check engine light go on for eternity.

Anyone else care to comment??

hehe, to be honest, imho, upgrading the intake and exhaust are more about sound than power. i have sat in a lot of cars wth those stuff, and i have yet to be able to really feel the difference in power that's just me of course

I don't think you are going to find simple bolt-ons that will give you 300hp. You have intakes, exhaust, and headers but none of these (even combined) will get you to remotely close to that number. FI is really your only option for any kind of substantial gains.

very true, even 300hp at crank woudln't be achievable

thanks for the info.

My only problem with f/i is that I am not mechanically skilled enough to do major repairs. I don't even think there are any shops in my area that would work on turbos.

then i think you are stuck with normal bolt on. and from what i have seen, putting about 200 to at most 220 at the wheels i think?

what these guys are saying is so true.. I/H/E=215-220 rwhp along with an S-AFC tuned.
you want 300 rwhp, without F/I, I suggest going nitrous. Nitrous along with the above would get you at about 300-280, depending on how aggressive your jets are for nitrous.
I would get a second engine and build it up for an agressive setup if you're going that route.. (and I have one if you need one. )
good luck in your pursuit... remember goals are attainable, its how you go about attaining them and what you're willing to compromise.

If your looking to break the 300hp barrier you need to start saving and invest in some Boost!! Its going to cost a pretty penny but put it this way, how much would it cost to get your car to 300hp N/A? Then think to yourself with boost you can have 300hp or you can turn that **** up a little and have 350hp...
