Default Thinking of gettin a used IS300

With the current gas prices I am considering lookin at getting a IS300. What should I look for/not look for? Any cons about the car? My mom has a RX300 and loves it so I figured the IS would be similar. What kinda gas mileage does it get? I currently have a 98 4Runner Limited that gets 16MPG right now half highway/half city and its ridiculous. Does the IS get a lot better than that. Should there be a max of miles I shouldn't look for or is it like any Toyota and will last forever is takin care of?

Well for gas mileage i think the IS was rated at 18 in the city ... honestly i couldn't tell you what i get. That wasn't the reason i bought the car. I will let some other people throw out numbers if they keep track. As for problems w/ the car, there really is nothing major. My biggest problems to date, have been some minor squeeks (seatbelt) and rattle (sunroof) that are easy to fix if you are a DIY type of person, or i'm sure wouldn't cost much if you had to pay to have them done. I got my IS used w/ around 39k on it i think last october, i have 49k on it right now, and don't regret my purchase at all, still a damn nice car that turns heads, and so far the only time i have been dissapointed was recently at the drag strip when i damaged my stock clutch.... track was a little sticky!

I get 19 mpg with the 5-speed. I bought the car certified pre owned with about 15k miles. I love everything about this car, it feels tight and nible. only problems I see are the aforementioned rattles in the sunroof and a chirping coming from the clutch.

If you are concerned with current gas prices then DO NOT get the IS300. This thing eats gas like nobody's business.

So I see the IS gas eating isn't much better then the GS 3 and GS4. I thought it would get a little better mileage since it's lighter.

Im not complaining about my gas mileage, but its not as great as most other 3.0L sedans. I avg. about 23MPG, mostly highway, some city. Not bad, but not great.
