Would you trade you current Lex. for the new IS?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WOW! More viewing the new IS then any other lexus model!!!
86 people as of 12:36am on 10/14/05....
Yea I like the new IS to, but have never seen such a high level of intrest in any given model. I guess alot of Lexus owners are ready to trade up...
Is that the case? Would you trade you current Lex. for the new IS?

my opinion (i haven't driven a 2nd gen yet) is that the original IS, is for sure a luxury version of the ALTEZZA, and clearly the sencond gen was designed to be an IS from the beginning. That being said, I can't see trading up to the new IS. Just not my style, looks too much like the rest of the lexus line up (not bad, just not what i want in a car right now), and regardless of the new features, its probabbly going to take quite some time and money on somebodies part before there is as much potential for the brand new engine as the 2JZ has available right now.

Nope. I'll be keeping my 1st gen IS. I saw the new IS in person this past weekend and, while it did look better than the pictures, it didn't give me that "must have" feeling. I want more cabin room and while the new IS is physically larger than the 1st gen, I don't think any of that extra size was added to the cabin. I'll probably be looking at a GS next or something German.
The salesperson I was speaking to informed me that there would be a GS350 next year (and the V8 will certainly be updated as well), so while the IS may have a HP lead now it won't last long.

I dunno, if I continue to rack up miles on my car it will be inevitable that I need a new car in the next couple of years. And in that case I MIGHT. But right now, NO. I am hoping to pay off my IS in the next year or so and get a matching IS350. That way I can have the best of both worlds. We'll see.

Although I see nothing wrong with the 2nd gen, I do see two different target demographics for each car and different principal characteristics. That being said, I prefer my 1st gen IS. I feel its more sporty between the two and I like the size.

I couldnt agree more. I almost did it, but decided that it wasnt sporty enough and had lost its IS'ness (not a word I know )
