So I got my 2002 Black Onyx IS-300 last Friday and I hear a weird noise in my car. I took it to Lexus already and they told me that it was an actuator for the ABS and that it is okay, but I thought I would post on here to see if anyone else has heard it too.

Everytime that I start my car up and put it into (D)rive, then start to accelerate, I hear a weird noise. I don't know if I can describe it, but if others have heard it, then they will know what it is. The noise never happens again until I turn the car OFF, then back on again and back into (D)rive again.

The service rep at Tustin Lexus explained that it was an actuator checking the ABS to make sure that it is functioning correctly. If it was to fail that test, the ABS light would appear on my dash. He said they went to this style in 99' or something on all Lexus'.

Have other IS owners noticed this?

Hi Aaaron,

I get the same sound in my car (sort of a grinding noise) except that now it has gotten worse from when i heard it from day 1. I just took it in for a checkup and they gave me the same reason (that the abs actuator was checking if the abs was working). I was wondering if your still hearing the same sound or if you've gotten it fixed. Please let me know
