Default Question about Manuals

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum

I'm lookin to sell my car for a IS300 5MT... but I got a question about the tranny itself

My car right now is a 6MT Accord Coupe w/ NAV, and the transmission is pissin me off. At times, the gears feel really notchy when I push the lever into place. Sometimes, my 2nd gear (w/ clutch fully pressed down) even grinds for no apparent reason as I push it in gear.

I test drove a 2002 5MT IS300 yesterday... and unfortunately, the tranny feels a lot more notchy. However, it always goes into gear, just except for the clunkin in which feels really odd. I'm not sure if theres somethin wrong w/ that specific IS300 I drove, or is this normal? I feel clicks as I push the lever into the gear. When I test drove Euros, they were butter smooth. I push it in gear, it slides rite in.

Jus wanna make sure it's a good idea to swap my car for a 5MT. I sat in a IS250 6MT and the tranny felt sorta like butter. A lot smoother than my current car.

welcome to CL actually, a lot of people (including me) has/had the clunk issue on 1st->2nd (some on other gears) shift. no idea why. lexus says it's normal, and my car was always normal too.

but if you try double clutch and up shift, there is no clunk. so my mind tell me something is missing, but then the car is fine so.....

honestly i haven't driven the accord 6mt, but i think the is300 mt is pretty hard to drive on. dont' really like it as much as some others i have driven (s2000, m3, etc...). but it works as far as i know

I noticed a clunk when I shifted into 3rd as well, felt like something in the rear axel area. But, my main concern is hessitation pushin shifter lever into gear. My accord's 6MT sometimes locks up and does not go in 100% of the way. Some people don't pay attention and do not notice its not 100% in, and let clutch out and it grinds. Thats my issue. The IS300 I test drove, had a pretty damn notchy tranny pushin into gear, but at least it doesn't lock up half way. It went in every time.
