Hey everybody. Finally got my 2002 IS 300 after almost 6 months of searching. Got exactly what i was searching for. 5spd, pearl white exterior, and black leather.(69,000k) I love this car!! Just has some minor problems that will need fixing. Cd player does not play most cds.(is this common?) The rims are the worst part of the car. They look corroded and pitted in certain spots( would this be covered under warranty?) When pressing on the clutch and going into 1st gear there seems to be a "thump" sound coming from the rear(is this normal?) Other than that the car is sweet. Will leave stock for now. Got 500km on first full tank of gas(right to the gas light). Thats some city and some highway, and not really pushing it. Any advice would be appreciated

Welcome to the IS300 world.

The CD player can be problematic... I had to have mine replaced and it plays all sorts of CD-R, CD-RW discs without a problem now.

The thump in 1st and 2nd gear is well documented.. It's normal, but some have reported improvement with redline or other aftermarket transmission flush.

If you don't know the history of the vehicle maintenance, cleaning the air filter, spark plug/spark plug wire and gas cap change out may improve your fuel consumption... but the 2JZ is kind of a fuel pig in the first place.
