CD's skipping
I have had my 2002 IS for approximately 2 months and these past couple of days I've noticed that all my CD's are skipping. I've read on previous posts that people had problems with their CD's getting stuck and not wanting to unload, however has anybody else experienced the skipping problem? Especially only 2 months after having the car? Any suggestions? Thank you!

I have had four CD players replaced. I actually qualify for BBB lemon law. My IS was purchased in 11/00. Since 02/01 there is an updated "countermeasure" headunit that resolves this issue, supposedly. The fourth unit they put in my vehicle was a handbuilt unit that they had the engineers from fujitsu-ten brought over personally. No problems with the CD now, regardless of if the CD was a CD-R/CD-RW or store bought.
The dealer ended up replacing my dash twice also cause every time they replaced the radio, they scratched the center console part of the dash. Make sure your dealer does not do this and if they do raise HELL.
My dealer Tustin Lexus was a bunch of incompetent idiots, so I called Toyota directly in Japan and b1tched out some executive in Toyko. What resulted? Free 30K service, reimbursement of 12 CD's up to $20 a piece, and a free extended warranty.
If you have any problems b1tch to customer service in Torrance first, however if you end up with some college intern, then call Toyota directly in Japan. Believe me the folks in Torrance start sh1ting bricks when the Japanese staff in Toyko start calling in regarding unhappy Lexus owners in the U.S. Good Luck.

For a minute I thought I was the only one having that problem. I just bought my last Sunday and it started skipping on me the first day. It hasn't done it for a couple days now, but if it gets worst I plan to take it back.

Are you guys/girls playing burnt CD's or are they real cd's? Because mine skips on certain media. it doesn't really matter if the media is high end or low end but on certain cd's its skips. i haven't had a cd get stuck or anything like that (knock on wood) but that's what i see happening in my IS.

I dont have any problem with skippin ever.. and my car is SLAMMED.. like when I brought it back down to SRT a while ago the rear wheels were tucked to almost rim and the front was damn low too... drove it on I95 for 2.5 hours at well over 80 and no skippin at all... I use several different types of burnt cd's no problems at all.
