I dont get it i35 is nice but most of its features the is300 has. and I stick to my guns when I say the is300 crowds isnt the g35 crowd regardless of demographics.

I wish there were mor swkyline reviews so we could compare more but as of now, its all just talk saying the g35 will ONLY win in acceleration or saying it will handle great. We just dont know.

Wantanewlex: Is the IS that luxurious to you? To me, it doesnt seem luxurious at all. And thats what you say is all you really care about (not totally though).

If the is35 came with a 5spd and RWD I might reconsider. And no car with true sport car intentions has a turning raduis of 40 feet.

HAHAHA 0-60 on it is 7 flat. WOOPIEE RUN IS300 OWNERs. haha im reading a review and there comparing the I35 to the es300 and MB c230 not the is300.

You misunderstand. I was not referring specifically to the IS. I was referring to the Lexus line as whole as being more luxurious than Infiniti, or BMW and MB for that matter.

I must say, I *love* Lexus, and will likely never own another vehicle (unless I can successfully import this BMW Z1 I've been looking at), but I must say... Have you DRIVEN an IS300?!

Sports car my ***! Handles like a dog from the factory, acceleration? 215hp from the 2JZ engine?! They might as will throw in a 1.8l acura motor if they're gonna leave it de-tuned that much. You'd think that after 10 years of research and adding VVTi and other things, it would gain power....not LOSE it.

I do like the IS, mainly because it's affordable enough to buy, and then fix the performance problems. BUT I know of a ton of cars that on the sports car front would wipe it's *** off. And are MUCH cheaper to boot!

But aside from all this, I'm trying to get my girlfriend to buy a hatchback IS300. All I've gotta do is throw coilovers on it, and add a turbo and Haltech e6k, and we're good to go. (but I gotta make sure I don't make it faster than mine...LOL)

Hmm what are these sports cars u refering too? I own a five speed and I does not handle like a dog. I have had race instructers drive it and they all love the way it handles. Does it handle like a miata? NO. does it handle like a dog? I dont think so what have you been driving?

Or better yet have u driven an is300?

Well my car (sc3) far outhandles the IS, and that's with just springs and shocks. Not bad for a 4000lb car. Lets see, that I've personally owned, a 240sx *blows* it away in handling all factory, fiero (not bad for $500), among a few others. This could go on all day, but what I'm saying is that the car is not designed to be sold as a sports car, nor is it. You were saying it was a sports car, hence the reason I said it handles like a dog.

Does it handle better than a 4-door escort? Well yes of course! Same goes for a sable or the such. Can it outhandle a Impala? I somehow doubt it...my dad has driven both (impala as his new police car) and he said the IS just gets twitchy when you really push it. The impala is readable.

Have I driven an IS? Well I drove an e-shift from 2000 I believe, a e-shift that had the black taillights 2002? And a 5-speed thats 2002. Granted the 5-speed was MUCH better to handle than the rest, as you could slip the back end out and still guess where it's going.

I'm not saying the IS is a bad car...it just shouldn't be touted as a sports car.

These are trying times for Lexus, as the IS300 hasn't lived up to expectations (ok interior, decent handling and acceleration) as a "BMW killer", heck it barely beats a 325, forget the 330. It's styling is love/hate with Lexus having to amend it's oversights in the second year by adding leather,an armrest, and optional taillights, all the while nodding it's hat to Bimmer with the orange instrumentation lights to begin with. The LS design has been compared to MB, and the ES to me seems to have gotten worse, save for it's interior. I just pray this streak doesn't carry over to the GS and RX. Lexus wants to be the industry leader but won't release a new version/model until either MB or BMW do so first, they should be the innovator, not the imitator.

Is the lexus is300 sold as a sports car. No its not is the car is based on the japan? Yes.
Hmm ah well difference of opinion. Does the is300 out handle an impala? are u kidding me? I autocross the is300 its very readible. I will admit if u fack up it can get nasty on you but dont fack up.
the 240sx ive driven (my mothers didnt blow it away).
Fiero should blow it away.
a sc300 modified should be better and keep in mind im sure the sc300 has HUGE tires on it.
I think your exagerating the slowness of the is300 the guys at the track who drive Type R says its very fast. I guess well just agree to disagree.
I know if I take the is300 slalom speed, skipdplate and braking and compare it to most cars on the markets its in some very respectable company.
And im damn sure when I do some very simple mods for autoX season next year. Ill be able to run with almost anything. In fact Id bet that after just sways, race compound tires, some braces id be able to compete with type Rs. Now if a race instruture who drives every type of car that comes to autocross says the cars handles well Ill take his opinion of urs(no offense).
impala out handles the is300 HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA u crazy y dont u read a review of the impala. Even a police impala I doubt. Ive spoken to cops, they said there cars are predictanble but handle like dogs. After that statement u dont even deserve a response.

Time will tell. They seem to do okay for them selves( I read one month this year was there best ever im not sure which). Lexus i think leverages there price on on the competition with make very good reliable cars.
The is300 sells its a japanese car imported so the development cost is spreadover alot of markets.
Car companies often sells cars for more the just the sake of sales, the is300 bring in young buyer to the lexus plate. if the is300 is 2 years comes out with a new faster car how many here will buy it? How many is300 owner will jump to gs430s? I dont know the answer. But I love my lex.

Ill tell U now if I didnt get the is300 Id probably gotten a WRX or a Celica not a BMW or MB.

Yeh, of course you were. Your biased views which you have clearly stated yourself is reason why I will not respond to you after this post.

PS: If sales mean so much to you, GM is the best in the world.
