my co worker with an is wants to get and intake and exhaust also. but his wife will hate it if its too loud. will a megan downpipe make the exhaust louder at all?

I don't personally how the IS is configured, but if it is replacing precats, it sure will make it louder, bigger rumble. If not, just a downpipe in place of straight through exhaust even of an inch more won't see much of a bigger increase in the sound.
