Hi Everyone, ive just bought a 1999 Lexus IS200 second hand
SE model.

There is a few minor problems with the car that i hope to iron out over time.
first up is the Fuel gauge.

When i fill the tank up, the needle doesnt rise to the top of the gauge at the "F" marker, it stays where it is, i filled it up yesterday from 1/4 tank to full, and its still only risen to 3/4. It rises VERY slowly!

I think it might be a problem with the float in the fuel tank?

has anyone else had this problem before or know how i can fix it ?

I don't know too much about IS200, but if I had to guess, it might be the sending unit or the guage cluster itself.

Since you think it might be the float, have you worked with the fuel system? Change the fuel pump or something? If so, maybe you bent the float accidently while you were putting the assembly back in.

Yess...Carbon is right its the cluster...i JUST had this problem with my 03 is300 and luckily mine is still under warrenty...i just took it to lexus and they dropped in a new cluster for me...gauge work fine now..

it could be either something wrong the the cluster or the fuel sending unit
