Default Noob here, question about engine swap/turbo

I have been curious lately as to how would i go about getting my engine swapped to the V8 GS430, one of my good buddies works at a lexus dealership, real high end one, and said he knows a few that have done that and recommends it over turbo charging. Any opinions/tips/suggestions would be real appreciated, im kind of on the edge of the fence so to say. I currently have the IS300 2002 5speed sports package lexus and was thinking of turbocharging or if its possible to do this engine swap. Any idea what it would cost? Thanks in advance

I only know of 1, and I don't think it was easier nor cheaper than going NA-T on the 2JZGE. I know more Full GTE swapped IS than v8 swapped ISs. And there arent that many Full 2JZ GTE ISs around...

My $0.02 is save up and go Boost.

It would probably cost more to do the motor swap. I've done a couple in reverse, V8 to I6, getting the wiring straight can be a pain. Besides the V8 is still "only" 300hp, the basic kits from SRT or PFS are putting more then that to the wheels.

I'm still learning about all this, as I'll probably be getting an IS in the near future. But, I thought you had to put in a new engine to turbo charge it anyway? Or is it just a lot of new parts to the stock engine? Anyone have a rough estimate on the cost from going to a stock I6 3.0 Liter engine, to a turbocharged one?

It seems to me like a good intake and exhaust would be a better bang for your buck, unless you REALLY want to race this thing.

You don't swap the engine out to boost it. You might get the GTE bottom end later down the road so you can make more hp reliably.

Yes you add bunch of parts to the 2jz.

Stage 1 with install, gauges, + w/e extra to run and be safe is around $10k.

N/A IS is pretty slow compared to whats out there. And Boost is the best bang for you money IMHO.

If installed correctly and you do some research and get the basic principle of it, it is safe.

Start with a 50shot and you can move up to 75shot with just colder spark plugs. Add some other things, and run 100shot. Get e-manage to retard timing and you can do 125shot, but that's another level... (you should retard timing on 75+ shots, but you can get away with it on 75shot)

Other things I would recommend:
RPM Window Switch
Bottle Heater
Pressure Gauge
AFC and Wideband (just to make sure you don't run lean)
