my neighbor was wrong... i should have known better..... he did a light bulb test...and voltage can light up a tiny light bulb...

But I would've said the battery too. My IS did the same thing a while back. Though it didn't die, it wouldn't start one day for a try or two. I took it to autozone and they ran a test and said the alternator was fine. Indicator on the battery said the battery was fine. Then, when I told the guy I was buying the battery from that it was the original battery and it had been in there since Dec of 02 he was like "well no wonder!!" So on a hunch I replaced the factory battery with a new optima red-top battery and haven't had a problem since. After almost 5 years with the same battery the sucker was going to call it quits sometime, I just caught it before it really died on me. So as far as the indicator goes I don't know what is up with that, but I wouldn't rely on it. At least not with the stock batteries.
