Well I went to look at a white IS300 just for kicks. I worked at a car dealership for 4 years and drive up in an IS300 myself. So I'm at this Chevy dealership looking at this other IS300, and the salesman comes up and says it looks like I found what I'm looking for. I'm like uhhh yea I was just lookin at this one. So I decide to drive it and see how it drives compared to mine. This was an 02 with 68k miles, a small dent, CEL, and a shutter at highway speeds. Not to mention a knocking from the suspension. The internet price was 13,995 and I was like that's not worth it. Anyway I decided to get a buyers order for it to see what kind of price I could get. He even asked if I were going to trade mine in....I'm thinkin are you serious?? Anyway he comes back with a price of $18,990+ TTL. I almost laughed at him, that's when I pulled out the internet price from the SAME dealership. He tried to tell me it was complicated and that I should have told him before. That's when I told him I worked at a car dealership and that it was NOT complicated. He still tried to BS his way out of it. But how on earth would they try to play me with $18,900!?!

 

haha thats funny i got my 02 is300 5 spd with 46k on it for 14800 they originally wanted 17100 for it but ya thats a ****in rip i woulda kicked the dude in the face and walked out lol

 

i got my 03 IS300 with 35,000 miles on it for 18,000 OTD.

 

Wow, I might've paid a couple bucks to see him try to talk his way out of telling you 5 grand more than their asking price.

yea, some people just pay it, like my father in law, he went to dealership , bought a 04 quest for 22k, with 35k miles on it. i guess they were asking 22 and he gave 22 with any bargaining ..the brand new 08 sell for around 21-24k the KKB value is 14k-16k and thats couple of months ago at a chevy dealership in NJ, man i was pissed off when i found out, i guess some older people or even ill informed people just might pay when they ask.

i remember when i was looking for rx330, i went to Ny to see one and he asked me 32k for it, his website said 28k and i told him then he came down to 28 and gave some bull**** excuse to cover up. they came down to 23k for that Rx but i walked out cuz the car was crap.. i hate those sleezy salespeople

 

I have many fun stories about dealer salesman. I know all the tricks and when they say it is the best they can do. I have come back the next day and bought from a different salesman and saved thousands and I even told one guy what he earned, he said what? I stated, a spot to never sell me a car and I left.

 

Car salesmen for the most part are dirtbags. I wont charge you for that one....

What's the old joke? How do you know a car salesman is lying? His mouth is moving. Truer words have never been coined. I let the sales guy talk for background noise so I can concentrate on the car. Think of it a elevator muzak. Whether he is knowledgeable or not, don't believe a word he says. Then after the unbelievable negotiations and wasted time I find a private party to buy it from.
