Greets,
On IS300.NET there are some VERY active forums on a problem which seems to have simultaneously started hitting a lot of 2002 IS300 owners and the navigation. I have searched this site and not really found anyone. Since there are no answers there, I wanted to check here.
That thread, by the way, is at:
http://my.is/forums/f103/oem-navigat...d-data-359227/
Anyway, about 3 weeks ago my Nav simply started saying "Unable to read Data; Check Map DVD". No matter what I try, this will now not go away.
So far the DVD has been removed and cleaned (it showed no sign of scratches or wear). It worked for 1 very short trip, and stopped. The system has been rebooted, but that didn't last long either.
From what I saw on IS300.NET, this is becoming somewhat of an epidemic; although Lexus has not yet acknowledged it as a mass problem.
Anyone else out there experience this and have a solution? On IS300.NET the person took apart his unit, greased it, cleaned the optics, etc., and got nowhere. The only person there to solve the problem simply replaced his navi unit from a junked IS.
