So last night I was showing my buddy my new intake and I noticed something that idk whether or not to be worried about or not. On the new SRT intakes, the heatshield has a "splash guard" sort of thing where the air passes through it from the plastic airscoop. My heatshield doesnt have this "splash guard" on it! (im sort of making these names up as I go along because I dont know any other way to describe them..haha) So I was thinking: Would rain water pass through this and get sucked up into my engine? Should I be worried?..because I was thinking that there has to be a reason its on the newer ones.

No need to worry about water getting into it. Usually the stock airbox would create a vacuum to suck in the air from that inlet, but since there is nothing connected to it, no need for worry.
You are good to go.

i just recently removed my air box.. it's louder now, i'm scared of it getting water-lodged though.. it's been raining here, after i pull up on the driveway i check the air filter, it's always dry.. i might put the air box back on

nah youre fine. the only thing to ever worry about is what i had happen to my es300 RIP. i had the AEM true cold air intake. and i went nose first into a flash flood that i wasnt paying attention to. blew the head, bent the internals, totalled the car.
but these srt intakes dont have anywhere near the level of suction required or even the placement to worry you.
btw paint that guard black. it looks better

Herrow,
Haha I'm looking for an SRT intake for my triple black IS300. But all the ones I've seen are silver and red or black and red. Where did you find your black on black?

Mine was actually the silver and red one but I wanted it black so I sanded off the silver primed it and painted it with RustOleum High Temp Engine Enamel..Came out very nice..I also have access to a Vinyl machine and printed out the SRT Logo in red to put back on it..its not in the pics above though..
