Answering your prior question, the 2JZ with vvt-i( variable valve timing) is a interference motor, meaning all the engines on the IS300 and 1998-2000 SC300 and GS300 are interference motors.

 

Excellent post, in interference designs, regular service is especially important as incorrect timing may result in the pistons and valves colliding and causing extensive engine damage and therefore costly repairs.

 

I just had my 90k maintenance done. Had the water pump, timing belt, serpentine belt done. Also a lot of people forget to change out the cam and crank seals that are as cheap as 11$ each. Everything plus labor came out to almost a grand.
