These bulbs tend to burn out around 90k. You have to remove the analogue gauge cluster and twist out the bulb which is attached to circular bread board. it is easy to replace and Radio Shack will have these LED's. I changed out my sister's 2005 Camry gauge bulbs at 50k as two burnt out.

That was a good question to ask and I should have stated that in my original post. What I did was remove the cluster and then remove the filament bulbs. Then I purchased LED's with the same sizing and put them in. You can choose amber led's as well. I do not think the cluster on the 1gen has a amber plastic housing, but double check.

I'd stick with the bulbs. Plug in LED's are spotty. That's why the DIY in the sticky up top is so much harder to make it look like it should.

Just an update, I went to Lexus of Wilmington since they said they will do it for 150. They opened the cluster and called me saying that I do not have bulbs on my cluster but LEDS and thus 1100 to fix. I think they are trying to make money. Anyone hear of this before?

try this. remove the cluster.
on the back you will see the backs of the plastic sockets. remove one of the larger ones and take a picture of it. also if you can take a picture of the entire back of the cluster and post it here. could be as simple as ordering bulbs. not all led installs are hard installed with solder. some are like the diys we mentioned which consist of removing the bulb from the socket and plugging in the led bulb. let us know. and 1100 wow. thats steap.

Ok, I went around opening the cluster up today...it was a beautiful day here! and i figured out right away that those fools at Lexus didnt even touch the cluster...and the install that was described led me directly to the bulbs...very nice upload there! here are some pics. Now should I just go buy bulbs from Toyota or take a bulb out and go to radio shack or something? Thnks

your very very first step should be to go back to that dealership and demand to speak to the service manager. and ask him to explain the inconsistancy of his story demand some accountability. secondly if you paid anything for the diagnosis, you should have a full refund take place. and finally you should ask him what kind of deal he can make you on the parts.....fyi these bulbs are $2 aprox each from carson toyota. this is really sad.....

but good for you. you can either go the bulb route if you like the red or you can go the actual led route and purchase them from autolumination.com or somewhere like that.
