Default question about the IS series

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting in the IS section. I own a 99 rx300 and have found a lot of information from talking to everyone on this site about my car. My girlfriend is back in college and i told her that when she graduated i was gonna buy her a new car (lexus of course lol) and she seemed to really dig the IS series. We saw a 2002 IS 300 i think it was and she was just all over it. So i wanted to ask you guys a few things about the IS series. Are there any issues with parts of an IS 300 i should be consicous of when looking for one to buy. For example with the RX 300 the tranny is the first thing to go. Were there ever any recalls? Such as with engine gel issues in the early RX 300's. Whats everyones milage and year on your IS? Whats the difference between first and second generation?

Thanks in advance for your help guys

the difference between the first gen and 2nd gen are completely different. its like comparing the rx300 and rx330

Only big parts issue with the IS300 is the CD changer, it gets jammed, and you need to get a new one, or get a aftermarket unit. That's it really, the IS300 is a well built car.

From 01, mostly cosmetic changes along with stability control, curtain airbags, speaker grill covers in front doors, smoked headlights in 04-05, etc.
