Car Accident Today: IS300 vs. Saturn Ion
Sigh, wasnt my fault at least. I was on a road completely stopped in the middle of an intersection, waiting for oncoming traffic to stop so that i could make a left turn. well some guy behind me just decides to ram into the side of my rear bumper. guess he thought there was enough room for him to go around. The heavens were really opening up at this point, and it was a real pain to exchange information. here are some quick snaps with an iphone
looks like the entire bumper cover needs to be changed. pretty much cosmetic stuff, i dont think the bumper was damaged but we never know. the light housing needs to be replaced as well.
all the lights in the rear work except for the right hand turn signal, which i think is the most important. i dont know why its not working either because the bulb is still entact. guess a wire out smushed or something. also, now when i turn on the blinker, the front one blinks way faster than it used to
bad day

That'll buff right out. j/k.
Sorry to hear, but it doesn't look too bad at all.
I don't think it's the wire harness, because your other lights work. I believe there is only one wire harness for each taillight assembly.
The rear bulb may be intact, but the filament may be broken. The front indicator is blinking faster because of it. This is how to tell if you have light out, the flasher that is working will blink faster.

Problem with that area is that the tail light is part of the unibody back there and they'll have to pull the body back out. Looking at the misalignment of the light, it appears the light is still properly intact and it might be the body that got pushed. If that's the case it's no bumper job. They'll end up having to pull that entire quarter out and the corner. That'll make it a lot more expensive and complicated.
Sucks, good luck. I hope it is just a bumper and tail, but it looks like the quarter got a little bit of the damage also.

the first pic gives a better picture of the accident damage since it was taken on spot. since then i pushed the rear bumper/fender area back into the wheel well area and it snapped back in. its sunny today so ill take a closer look. do you guys think that i can just go buy another bulb and replace it like that since i have easy access to the bulb now
