so i called to see how much it would cost to spray my IS300 cuz i wanna get all the rock chips and scratches filled in so figured id get the whole car painted and they said about 350.00+ i dont think thats 2 bad. but just wanted to know if they do a good job. anyone had any of their cars painted there? if so they do a good job?

 

damn $350?..for the whole car?..ive never seen their work...i got my hood, front bumper, wald lip, and front quarter panels painted for $900..$350 is CHEEAPP for the whole car

 

From what I've seen on a few different cars, the paint is cheap and bubbles/peels after about year. I would NEVER bring my car to maaco based on what i have seen, there is a reason why the Really respected shops charge $3k or more.

 

no, they are just painting over whats already there, which you do not want, trust me, the moron I bought my car off of had someone paint over the front bumper to get rid of rock chips and now its about 1000 times worse, im having it all stripped off and repainted this weekend. have it done right at a good shop.

 

yes thats what i think too. plus they dont always tape up the cars real good. so you get overspray.remember you get what you pay for. im not saying go and pay 10k but look for a respectable shop and take a peek at what they are currently working on... good luck with your car.

 

I would have to say, NO. I think it's pretty unacceptable what the end results usually are.

 

Maaco is a cheap way to fix things. Save alittle money and get the right place to do it. Trust me man, expecially when it comes to paint... its def worth the money to have a legit place to do it rather than Maaco.

Maaco's are not all the same. They are independently-owned and operated franchises.

I used to have an old Mercedes that I had repainted at Maaco. I went to several and saw a great variance in quality. Expect to be cleaning overspray. They don't remove trim, of course, for that price.

If you get a good Maaco store, you can get a good job for the money.

 

Maaco is a no. My brother had his car painted, a neighbor had his van painted and an acquaintance bought a car that were all painted by maaco. I don't recommend it.

I say learn how to paint a car. I'm going to be repainting my 240sx with help from a neighbor who's worked on his own cars. I've already repainted the hood, but needs to be redone - paint gun was old and crappy. I got some new hvlp paint guns just like what my neighbor uses.

My neighbor painted his BMW-5 at Maaco due to having low funds and now his car looks dull and hazy, major orange peel, poor masking off, and definately poor prep. Some parts has like major bubbles and this is less than a year since. The paint is definately not smooth and absolutely no reflection.

 

they painted my bro in law's 300zx and did a horrible job.. they are cheap for a reason!
