Default Wheels Spec Advice

Hey guys
Do to some unfortunate event something good has come from my accident from the Black Ice incident.

I originally had some oldschool Works wheels from japan which were
17x8+8 Front (1.12in outside the fender and clears the suspension by 1.80in)
17x9+15 Rear ( 1.25in outside the fender and clears the suspension by 1.0in)
I loved how the rear wheels sat but the front stuck out so much that i lost a lot of performance as far as cornering ability. But i couldnt do anything about it but use em.

Now the good, I am now waiting on the insurance money for me to be able to order a new set of Works Euroline which are of similar design to my old ones.
I was thinking of going for a wider stand. The 2 shops i talked to said that i was pretty much at the limits by putting
this which was my original plan and train of thought
17x8+35 Front (.06in outside the fender and clears the suspension by .70in)
17x9+25 Rear ( .80in outside the fender and clears the suspension by 2.0in)
which the front would sit flush inside the wheel well and rear would stick out a bit

The problem is they said is that the IS doesnt have much room on the suspension side, and very little room from the hub to the fender as well to fit the wheels, but i have heard of a few members on My.IS and CL putting wider and larger wheels, offcourse with small fender mods.

With some time to thnk while i wait for the insurance money
I decided to do some research and found a few people with wheel calculators and formulas (thanks to a few dedicated My.IS members willing to help others) and found that with my old setup as a base of comparison as well as stock specs this setup should work with a small fender pull
my biggest concern is suspension clearance
i can worry about fender clearance once i get to that point in time
17x9+30
17x10+35
I found this formula on my.is, can anyone vouch or confirm these calculations using the above specs.

Front -
Fender Clearance:
9.0 x 25.4 / 2 - 30 = 84.3 which is 79.3 - 65(fender limit) = 19.3mm, (0.75in outside the fender)
Suspension Clearance:
9.0 x 25.4 / 2 + 30 = 154.3 which is 144.3 - 155(suspension limit) = -10.7mm (clears the suspension parts by about 0.5in)

Rear -
Fender Clearance:
10.0 x 25.4 / 2 - 35 = 92 which is 92 - 68(fender limit) = 24mm, (about 1in outside the fender)
Suspension Clearance:
10.0 x 25.4 / 2 + 35 = 162 which is 162 - 190(suspension limit) = -28mm (clears the suspension parts by 1.10in)

Almost all the formulas on the NET leaves me to understand that these wheels should fit especially when i'm wraping the front on 205/45/17 or 215/45/17 at most and wrapping the rear on 215/45/17

if you guys have gone as wide as 8.5 or higher in the front and 9.5 or higher in the rear could you guys let me know what kind of offset you used and what extra mods you had to do to make the wheels works
some pictures as far how the fitment looked and general info or advice would be helpfull
i am probably ordering these wheels in the next month or so

Thanks 4 the tips in advance

You should be able to fit the 9 +30 and 10 +35 fine, especially if you are running 205 and 215.

You COULD run a 225 in front and 235 in the back if you wanted... You just need to roll all four fenders, and possibly pull them a little.

Look at Travis's thread.

http://my.is/forums/f95/twestmans-gg...shness-390761/

He was running a 18x9.5 +38 in the rear with a 245/35/18 tire. He then added spacers to make it a 9.5 +33.

9.5 * 25.4 / 2 - 33 = 87.65
10 * 25.4 / 2 - 35 = 92

So less than a 5mm difference, and you will be running a stretched tire. Camber plays a huge role too though.

I have an 18x8 +37 in front. That should sit at 64.6 and the fender limit is 65. If you look at my pictures you can see that because of how much negative camber I have, I can fit about a 10mm spacer in front.

So in other words.. The calculator does NOT take into account negative camber. The number you get at the end is how the wheel would fit with 0* of camber.

Again, look at Travis's front wheels. He has an 8 +38, then added a 10mm spacer to make it 8 +28. It still isn't 100% flush.

But the 9 +30 and 10 +35. It will look sick.
