VW W8...270HP....smacks the IS300
Hey Lexus, VW has an engine that will put the smack down on the IS300....release the ******in TRD S/C already...or go big, and release the IS430.....
IS owners prepare to have your *ss handed to you by a friggin' Passat....and TL owners you not got much to hide from either..
No doubt firms like Zender and Autotech will be making parts for easy 300 HP and beyond....so I guess the GS 400 is fair game as well..

passat is a midsize competitor (ie: 5/GS/E/A6). But it is a great car and value none the less. Ive always loved the passat, the W8 gives me more to love! and AWD! too bad no 6 speed here though 
maybe later on. i sat in one and the interior is beautiful. Great details and materials. Its the little things that make it so nice and seperate it from other passats.

VW's Quality is soooo poor. Yea W8 big deal, it might be a fast engine IF you can keep it running consistently. I had a 2000 VW and it was the biggest pile of plastic Mexico assembled crap I have ever seen. Anyways an 8 cylinder should be at least 300+ hp anything below that is a waste of GAS. You really have to have owned a VW to really understand the lack of effort Volkswagen puts into the quality of their cars.
If you want FAST get a 1000+cc Street bike not many cars can match the performance and speed of a MC.

VW's
My family has owned 4 VW's. They suck! My sister still drives her 96 passat and she complains about it constantly. I would love to see how the tranny holds up to that power. 2 of the 4 VW's we've owned dropped the tranny around 65K miles. Have fun with the novelty car!

Yes, VW's are pieces of junk...two of my friends sued VW for their VR6's and VW refunded them all their money...
The older ones (made in Germany) were much better...

I think everyone is missing the point......even with your IS equipped with intake and exhaust....a mom driving her Passat could just floor it and easily pass your IS...
...I agree VW's are pretty much not well made, but 270 HP is 270 HP, stock....someone adds headers, intake, and exhaust and your at and esay 300+ HP....
I think to many people put the IS on this great pedestal....like it's so powerful...ya right 210 HP, if your lucky....I like my IS, but I've had it in Auto Trader for 2 weeks....when it's sold I'll probably buy another (cause I want a MSM) but I am considering a 330i
The IS handles excellent, but it's a small car with not enough HP...period

You got a good point... but how can you compare 8cyl motors to 6 Cyl motors...? that is like comparing a new Cobra and the IS300... I mean you have a good point on the yeah a mom can blow by you... but at the same time.. so could an escalade... or a F350 with the BigBlock motor.... there are some odd cars that you never thought could pull on you but with the right driver they can..

Hey Lexus!!! Mercedes is getting a 449 HP SL in the summer that will beat your LS!!!!
This is pretty much what you said. It may be a faster car, but who the hell compares a passat to an IS??? To completely different cars with different marketing goals.
