I've heard of plenty, boosting 5 speeds without a problem
the issue was always the clutch in which they just went up to a higher load capacity meant for th HP they were pushing out

tranny wont hold up, not just the clutch. personally, a little over 300 hp in my IS would be enough power for me, and civics already arent a hassle, except newer si's. but anyways, most people swap to 6 speed R154 trannys, i believe theyre from the supra, anyways, you wont be able to crack those, they handle well over 400, 500+ hp. and as for boost, ill be getting into that soon, but im working on suspension and brakes first. you shouldnt throw 400 hp into a car that can handle or stop itself, its just unsafe. check out clubna-t.com, mark is really helpful and provides cheap and reliable turbo kits for our cars. 1749 shipped to your door for the full kit, minus engine management, and youll need to modify a couple of the parts. anyways, id suggest going for the IS300, i love my car, shes not the fastest (yet) but its still a lot of fun to drive, i still havent gotten bored. i dont think i ever will.
and to O.L.T.
you can boost a 5 spd, the trannys are good to 350 hp, autos to 400. im planning on boosting my 5spd, and just staying low boost. itll get me to about 315, which is good enough for me. and i guess if i need to go more power, supra transmission would fix the problem. i couldnt drive a boosted auto, it wouldnt be as much fun!

Hey guys new guy lol but I need some opinions. I have bein around lexus my whole life and that's all I rep I have a chance on buying 03 IS but my freinds keep telling me to get s14 and put the rest of the money into it and boost it they say its cheaper. Is it cheaper what should I do
last night i had a dream (and i dont dream often) that someone was showing me how to build a turbo kit for my is300 (of course it was made out of sliced american cheese but thats not the point)
i dont know what kind of person you are or how you feel about that other car but i can say this, ive gone through a lot of different cars from bmw, vw jetta, ford, lexus, etc. It wasnt until i got a lexus that i got interested in working on cars, and once i got the is300 i got passionate about working on it, if you can find that in another car then that is your car but from personal experience, the is300 is....amazing
