i am thinking about going to take a look at an '01 is300 with 125000 miles. asking prices is $7000. should i go for it "assuming" good condition, or too high mileage/too high price?

Depends on the condition, if it has paperwork proof for maintenance, clean title etc. . If it is a dealer, ask them for the carfax. Where in TX are you?

I'm in Houston.

the carfax says it's a 1-owner vehicle. there was an accident reported in '03 involving the rear of the vehicle, but not a rebuilt certificate. there was also a concern that the car was registered in '05 in a FEMA flood area, but there is no flood alert on the carfax report. it's being sold a dealer's place.

I think the yes/no decision on a car is always dependant on the overall condition of the car.

Let us know after you see it. Take note of the + and - of the car as well as if it has everything you were looking for.

As for the accedent report: you want to know the full extent of that damage, if it involved the frame, and hopefully where it was repaired and how their reputation is.

Hard to say. I'd get it inspected first. Also a car that was wrecked will never be the same. 7K for a car with that much issues it a bit much in my book. But it is up to you. Good luck.

I am living in Houston too, and it is really hard to find the IS... my recommend is you better not buy the IS with too high mileage or accident. Just wait and shop around like what i am doing. I am about to go Dallas or Austin to get the IS.
