could be bro. well, for the first problem u should take the car to the shop and ask them for checking the sensor plugged into the transmission ( it called odemeter or mileage sensor or sumthing reading the mileage ... sr i forgot the name ....). For the second problem, there is no the other ways except you have to take out the whole thing of the speedometer out and take it apart... after that, move slowly the black cover that shows the light and look under it to see if they use any black tapes to cover that light. if so, bring the car back to the sellers and ask them WHY ?????

UPDATE: Check Engine Light OFF: Well some scumbag took out the ABS, BRAKE and TRAC OFF bulbs and threw them away. I had to order them from the stealership at 8$ a piece.

Anyhow, obviously those 3 lights are going to be on or flashing. I dont know where to begin, I hate giving the stealership money but i guess i will have to, they want 120 for just diagnosis. Is there any way to check the sensors without the expensive comupter ie: can i do some checks with a multi-meter or something.

Where is the speed sensor / odometer sender thing?

ok heres my suggestions:

1. autolumiation.com those bulbs are like 50 cents and 1-2 dollars for specific colors, just bought some myself, got 3 194's and 2 24's(i think) and it was like 6 or 7 bucks in the ultra bright white

2. follow this diy to put them in and while doing this diy you may find that some of the cables have been unplugged or loosened for whatever reason, after doing all of this jump back on here and tell us what you find

Hey thanks for that, the blue looks pretty sick. But my bulbs are the warning ones, the smaller black ones. The holder and everything was missing so I needed the sockets also so i had to buy them at lexus. I also installed a new ABS/TRAC ecu and no dice. It must be a wheel sensor or the speed sensor in the tranny, although i thought the IS doesnt have a speed sensor in the automatics.

yea i meant for you to follow it cause thats how you get to ALL the lights in the gauge cluster, if youre missing the bulb holders that you twist in....uh yea im not sure where you can buy those from a store, theres several is 300's that are being parted out around the threads right now and you could get em from those guys, check on here and isfanatics.com for ones being parted out, you COULD hit up my.is too but be prepared to be barraged with flames for bein a noob, just forewarning you ;^)

well let me confirm something before we continue, the car runs fine except for information you get from the gauge cluster, is that a correct statement?

Should be a wheel sensor... pull the sensors at all 4 wheels and make sure they are all sending a signal... you should find the culprit there

If they are all sending signals then there is a module you would have to replace... everything should come back to life after that

Yes car runs perfectly normal, shifts fine etc. Just no speed, no odometer increase, and i am assuming because i havent got the bulbs yet that the ABS, TRACK OFF, and BRAKE lights will be on / blinking not sure yet. Getting the bulbs tomoroww, not sure if ill have time to put them in before the end of the weekend.

how do you know if they are sending signal? i read somwhere that you can use an ohm meter on the conector with it unplugged and if there is continuity then the sensor is no good. Cant confirm this though.

Have you gone to Autozone and borrowed their OBDII scanner? If your car is throwing a code, you at least have a starting point.

I dont believe mine was throwing codes even though the lights were going

I had a shop read mine, but i believe you are right, the magnet in the sensor flies past the little groves and throws a signal and speed is calculated by how many signals are sent

this would be assuming your trac ends up blinking, your abs stays on, the speedo/mileage doesnt work

NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OBD2 SCANNER WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME PLUS I DO HAVE ONE.

ok got the bulbs in. ABS light on, TRAC OFF flashing, BRAKE on steady. i also have tried a new abs computer but that didnt fix it either. i was able to pick one up for 50 so i tried it. I then pulled the codes using the method of jumping 2 wires in the obd2 port and if i am reading the codes right im getting codes 31,32,33,34 from the ABS light. they correspond to all 4 abs sensors. I dont see how all 4 can be bad but maybe.

i really would like a wiring diagram of the ABS system and the SPEED SENSOR system if anyone has it. I want to check for shorts or breaks or maybe a bad ground before i go out and buy all 4 sensors.

When you take your wheel off I believe you can basically see the entire sensor/wire, or at least the more vulnerable exposed parts

Plugs in right behind the brakes

Sounds identical to the problem I had =\
