I just ordered my new IS300. I put a deposit down on Monday for either a blue or black IS300, but the salesman told me today that he couldn't find a blue IS300 anywhere. However, he did locate a black IS300 that will be on a boat on the 16th. He says I should get it within ten days afterwards.
So my question is, is it realistic for a car to be shipped from Japan all the way to Massachusettes in 10 days or am I getting set up for disappointment. He gave me a partial VIN, so is there any way to track the car's location?
Also is it really possible that there is not a single blue manual IS300 anywhere? This seems crazy, but I guess it could be, or am I being jerked around. Nonetheless, I heard black would have a higher resell value so I guess I'm going to stick with it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Domingo, Congrats on the lexus! Where did you buy it from? Norwood, Watertown, or Ira?
Also, on June 29th, we are having a Club Lexus meet @ my house. If everyone can handle the change in date, well have about 18 Lex's and between 4 and 8 Supras.

Thanks Jeff. Good to know I wasn't the only one who couldn't find blue. The salesperson located a silver that would arrive next week, but I guess I'm going to wait for a car that is still in Japan. Wow, all the way from Japan. Kind of exciting if you think about it.

Wow, cool. My salesperson at Watertown was very patient and got me a great deal. So far so good. The hardest part will be the two week+ wait.
John, would you happen to know if the dealership can install the 3M paint protection film or maybe have someone they can recommend? How about lojack?
Thanks.

Domingo,
You might want to contact the protection film kit supplier about installation since they'll know who in the area can do the best job. You want to make sure you get the best kit - and then have it installed properly. You may find out that your Lexus dealer sells and installs the kit you want, but you may want to go elsewhere. Give my friends at Star Shield a call at 1-866-NO-CHIPS.
As for LoJack, most car dealers sell and install it. Since LoJack is headquartered near you, I'm sure you'll have no trouble there. You can probably even finance the LoJack with the car (and maybe the paint protection, too).
BTW, I spent several years in MA before moving to LA. Where in MA do you live?

LA Autoshow,
I gave your guys at Star Shield a call this morning, but unfortunately the closest installer they have is in Indiana. I left my number in case they locate someone closer to Boston.
Spoke to my dealer this morning, and they said on the LoJack they can offer $100 off what LoJack usually charges ($495 instead of $595). However, they use someone called Autobaund (sp?) for the paint protection film and that will cost $595 installed. Pretty steep pricing, but I guess there is the added benefit that if it's installed at the dealer, the car will be protected from the start. If you know of any good shops near Boston, please let me know.
I'm in Cambridge actually.
