Question IS300 Timing Belt

I have a 2002 IS300 Sportcross with 86k miles and was told I need to change my timing belt. One of the shops told me I also need to get the drive belt changed while another one told me I need to have the water pump changed. Can anyone tell me what exactly is necessary? Thanks!!

You are coming up close to the 90K service which recommends the drive belts, timing belts, water pump, cam seals, etc . . . When you get the timing belt you should change the water pump while you are at it because it is right next to each other. Also the other items should be changed when you have the engine apart. It's not the parts that is expensive, but the labor.

Good luck. Lucky for us the IS300 share the same engine as the Supra, so you might be able to find a local toyota dealer that charges less than the 1600 they want at Lexus.

It's insane what they charge to do this. A buddy or two helped me do this in a weekend. The hardest part is breaking the crank bolt loose (chain wrench is key), oh and make sure that o ring behind the water pump doesnt slip. lol figured that out after I had the radiator back on.

Lexus says 90 on the manuals but ive seen guys with 120K that have yet to do the service without issue. Not saying I would put this off in any way but at 86K I might try and find someone to do it cheaper than 1600. That's rediculous.

^^That's really not that bad. I have heard of Lexus dealerships charging over 1100 for this to be done.

I would love those part #s and the price on what all that would cost please, prices would be awesome if you have that readily available, mine as WAY too many miles, and I'm sure none of that work was done. BUT the car runs better than all the IS300s I had to choose from, so I'm trying to make sure I don't screw it up, lol. Thanks for the assist.
