Default Anyone lost their Master Key?

Long story short, i just got an '02 IS 300 and i only got the gray spare key with the car.

After going to a dealership they quoted me at $384 for a new master key and "reseating".

Just wondering if anyone has went through this process, i see keys on ebay that get solid feedback but in reading about them i saw this

1 - Have This Key Fully Programmed To Your Vehicle, You 1st Need To Have It Cut/Duplicated At A Pro Automotive Locksmith
Shop. Places Like Walmart/Home Depot Or Regular Hardware Stores Do Not Have The Required High Security Laser Ket Cutter
For Lexus Keys.
2 - Program (train) This Key To Operate & Start Your Vehicle Yourself, You Are Required To Have ONE Working MASTER Key To
Your Vehicle That Can Start Your Vehicle, And Lock And Unlock Your Doors, Including Your Glove Compartment. If You Have An
Original Lexus Remote Key Like Pictured Above, Or You Have An Original Lexus Stand-Alone Key In Black Color, You Are Set. If
Your Existing Key Is GRAY In Color And That Is All You Have, You Need An Automotive Locksmith Or Dealer's Help To Have New
Keys Added To Your Vehicle.

Any help would be great

thanks

Buy one off ebay, get it cut at a local key place and then search the forums for instructions on how to program. = atleast 1/3 the price the dealer wants. I've seen the DIY on my.is. Not sure it's on this site.

yeah ive been doing a search here and some people say that if you have no master key that programming in a new master key is not possible. Yet when at the dealer they said it can be done but its $385.
There are about 100+ threads on this board about this but i cant get a straight foward answer on the subject, so im not going to spend $80 on a blank key then figure out that it wont work.

You need a Master key that is already set up for your car to add another key. Since you have a 2002, you can have your ECU reset so you can add a master. If you had at least one master, you wouldn't have needed the reset.

Just went thru the process a few month ago on my 02. I had the dealer do it. I will give ebay a shot next time I decide I want a key.

Hmm interesting

So im going to order a key for the car through ebay

Find a place to cut laser keys, then pay to have my ecu reset because i dont have the master key.

This all works correct?
