I am thinking of going turbo and am thinking about purchasing the "srt" kit for the lexus IS300............ Has anyone purchased and installed this kit? And are there any kits that perform better than or equal to the "srt" kit but cost a little less? looking to get close to 500 but NOT quite that high.anything above 400 is good for me.

The SRT kit is a solid kit, you can't go wrong. Other options include PFS and Boostlogic but SRT is the best bang for the buck kit. You get a fuel standalone ecu and basemap with the SRT kit. With that said, be wary. SRT's customer service is poor, as they can be very hard to get a hold of.
Keep in mind you will also need to upgrade your transmission for turbo. If you have an automatic, you will need a VB upgrade, sprag upgrade, and transmission cooler at the very minimum, which SRT and PFS also offer so its more cost additional to the turbo kit price. If you have manual, you will need a clutch upgrade. Unfortunately, the 5 speed holds less power than the automatic. Motor wise, considering yours is healthy, you will need to swap out the headgasket for a thicker one which come with the kits.

^^Great information. I've looked at this option as well and I'm going to piece it together myself. I think this will be more cost effective and effective. The SRT kit is great from what I hear but everything they offer is overpriced.

Turbo = $$$$$. S/C maybe less.
Do more research.... u already have ur HP goals. Ask LO21 on my.is and checkout the tread. He started being an auto and eventually changed to R154 tranny.
I would say spend a lil more $$$ and get a turbo kit that is realiable. AND off course great tuning.

MY.IS is the best place for information. Be wary that they are a bit rough around the edges. Do research before you post up a thread asking questions like this, you will be eaten alive. Anyways good luck, take what everyone has to say to good use. It is definately true that you will need to do more than just buying the kit and throwing it on. And if you are looking to get the SRT kit you're looking at 5g's alone to buy it, and if you're not installing it yourself, your looking at another 2-3g's to install and make everything work right. Tranny also wont hold up passed 400 HP if your auto, its a long journey but worth it.
