Rear end swap
This may sound crazy, but could I swap my shorter rear gears for the slightly taller gears of an automatic IS3? I have the 5 speed and the LSD. While I think it is great that I can go 40 mph in 5th gear, 3400 rpm at 80 mph is a little much. A BMW with a 5 speed is about 2800 rpm.

I've had my IS300 for about 7 days and 8 hours. Long enough to crach my windshield and scratch my hood with a rock. !#$!#$!@$!!!!!
I can tell you that the 2000 BMW 323i 5 speed sport that I traded in ran at just about the same RPMs as my IS300 at 80MPH. I checked with a friend who has a 540i auto. He switched the final drive in his auto non-sport to the sport. His current rpms at 80 mph are about 3400 and previously they were closer to 3000.
He did mention to me that the output flanges on his car had to be changed as well as the final drive.
My only point is... You're not going to get 2800 RPMs at 80 MPH.

I changed my rear end to the auto LSD gearing, it was a 3.93 gear ration vs. the manual 3.72. There is a difference in accl. and I like it, I got a real good price on the carrier, so I took it. Also, my manual did not come with the LSD, so the auto LSD carrier gave me two upgrades. Lexus installed it, warranty is still intact.
