Picking the right exhaust

Picking the right exhaust
I recently purchased my is300 about four months ago. I want to put an exhaust on, however, I am very avid on not making it sound like a honda. I know apexi and Greddy sounds nasty but I am not looking to spend 700-800 dollars. Has anyone put a less expensive exhaust on and if so do you have a sound clip or maybe just a reference?

I used honda as a metaphor i know it wouldnt sound like it but as far as raspy and everything. I did hear megan racing had some good exhaust but still a little pricy. Then again you get what you pay for. What about HKS? any takes on that?

I was gonna suggest the same about searching youtube. What are you expecting to get, a full exhaust or just an axle back? As far as clean sounding HKS, try the ti-limited. Or if you can find one, I say get the L-tuned exhaust.

full exhaust my bet would be HKS. if not then L-tuned.

I cant justify paying $800 on an aftermarket exhaust for a N/A car just to gain a mere 5whp. Stock w/ headers is the best. However, to answer your question I feel like the Greddy Evo2 has a nice balance. Its not obnoxiously loud yet it accentuates our beautiful smooth inline 6 note.

Thanks, actually i put an ad on craigslist and on a couple forums and got lucky. This guy was going back to stock and let me snag it for a 100 plus my stock...He even threw in a Espelir B pipe that i just installed.
I can't justify it either, i think most people don't even care about the hp gain, it's not like they can feel it. They just want people to hear them drive by IMO.

I somewhat agree...It depends on what kind of look. Correct me if im wrong but the look i think your saying is the tip. Stock i believe is 2.25". I've seen some very from 2,3,4, etc....When you start hitting the 4's you'll notice a difference. I have around a 4.5 and i like it. You also have the burnt tips which im really not a fan of. Carbon fiber is a cool option as long as its not the only CF on the car. For the most part you really don't notice it unless it hangs low or sticks out which i think is Civicy. But hey, just my opinion and yes Aftermarket definitely better than stock.
