Oil
I recently purchased a year old IS300. I now has 26,000 miles on it and due for and oil change.
I am debating going with synthetic, and which brand to use.
Also, going by the manufacturers maintenence book, I should only change my oil every 7,500 miles. That's foreign to me. I've always maintained my cars at the standard 3,000 mile intervals.
Am I missing something here? Does Lexus have it down so well that their cars only need new oil every 7,500 miles? Or is that just hype, so your engine burns out faster?
Any thoughts and/or suggestions are appreciated.

The manual is not lying Honda also recommends oil change every 7500. BMW recommends every 15,000 but they require synthetic.
If you drive your car hard or you're one of those who likes to "take care" of your car, by all means, change it sooner. It may hurt your pocket a bit, but It won't hurt your car.

oil
Ive had two cars goto over 100k miles. Ive changed the oil every 3k miles with synthetic and never have a problem. When i fried my Jetta 1.8t and had to rip it apart the engine looked mint at 80k+ miles. Too bad it was actually the turbo ****ing up not the engine. I really need to live closer to my offices,.... all this driving...
