SAFC is not a problem, its just not optimal.
I ran an SAFC for a brief period of time on a 1J and made over 500whp with about 10 minutes of tuning time while driving to the dyno.
The car ran rowdy, just didnt have timing control.

Thats funny you mentioned tqless wonder. That was my claim to fame on Supra forums to **** off the 7M guys that used to gripe about the 1J making no tq. My first dyno pass i made 501whp@508tq and was making it before a 7m

I wanna say this was in 06 maybe. I had an Emanage ultimate, but couldnt get it working right. It was when it first came out and not alot knew about it. I went safc for a little and then went to an emanage blue before I sold it.

I might have already changed my name to PM-Performance. The ITR206 came from when I had a built 67MM powered Integra Type R back in the day, but yea same person.

dexlex, yea I made a 500 on pump on that motor already.
The 1J is a very stout motor. I beat the **** outta that thing when i drove it and it kept on going. 2bar spurts wasnt all that uncommon lol

Was your engine stock..ie stock head and cams? I tried for 500hp and my tuner said its a no go because It started to have some nock on pump gas @ 25psi. The car made 465hp. I'm planning on getting some cams

I personally don't recall seeing any 1jz's hitting that psi on pump. But with some convincing gas I have. They've hit 500+ on stock head and cams.
What turbo are you running sir?

Completely stock motor. Just bolt on of the right parts and SAFC.

I have run 2bar on pump on my setup. However when I did this and made my numbers, I had a boost leak completely around my compressor.

Wow...my tuner says 500hp without cams on pump gas is pushing it...especially on a piggy back! Lol. What turbo were you running? I've seen guys get those numbers on pump and then blow up the next week. Do you have a dyno sheet/Vid? You had a boost leak with these numbers.....did you fix the leak and do a re-tune? Not to call bull**** just curious.

I made 465@25psi on pump gas. I'm running a 6262 turbo, dual fuel pumps, 1000cc injectors, AEM standalone on a 1jzvvti motor.

It is kinda pushing it to be honest, but its a low comp motor to begin with and I just took the chance. It took more boost because no timing control and the boost leak.
There was no ping and plugs looked good. I pulled the plugs after each pull.
I have a dyno sheet at home. I had it on Supraforums forever.
The turbo was a 61MM and I was pretty much maxing my 550's

I never got it back on the dyno because I knew it was making atleast 500, but I did retune it later after the boostleak fix.
The next owner redynoed and made about the same HP on about 6-8 lbs less boost so I knew I was pretty close on the butt dyno

Excuse the pics. Wasnt the final stage in its life in these

nice car! the 1jvvti has a higher compression 9.0 compression compared to the 8.5.1 on the older models however the vvti's produces more torque. Yeah, you were running it on the line especially with the 550's. Unfortunately, no one in the states makes cams for the vvti's. I have lots of fuel and im thinking of running meth to reduce detonation.
