That is not a V8, it's a test mule IS300 with a TTE supercharger.
TTE was testing it on the Nurnburgring.

Trust me on this one.

That maybe true ... but why the camouflage? TTE showed close-up photos of the IS430 multiple times in the past.

I think there's a bit more to that car than meets the eyes.

Uh and yeah ... please tell me why I should trust you on this one.

Just watched Motorweek, they reported the IS430 will come to the US in 2004. Who can you trust?

As the new model or the current one?
They still can't get the IS430 to drive too good at the moment.

I've been toying with the idea of buying an IS300 and putting 12lbs. of boost on it. With these reports of the IS430 coming out... I might wait for it! I'm getting tired of driving my Mustang (racecar) around. I want something nice and the IS300 I kow you can make ridiculously fast (97 - 98 Supra motor). I want the automatic. How much do you guys think it could handle!?

I'm a prev. owner of '90 5.0L Notchback that ran low 12's all day. It's was quite easy and inexpensive to achieve this. But on a negative note, the fox chassis was not made for handling. Even with shocks, springs, sways, and assortment of bars, the car never felt like my current IS300. My current car has SRT stage 4 turbo with valve body shift kit tranny upgrade and triple clutch torque converter. The engine has lowered compression but all internals are stock except for ARP head studs. The 2jz-GE engine should handle max. 550-600whp at most. For reliability purposes, if the engine is ran 400-450whp daily, it should be no problem. The 2jz-GE is a stout engine, not as stout as the GTE engine, but still quite strong. The reliability issue lies more on the tranny than anything else. On a final note, the car has great potential for power (speed) but what the car already has is sports car feel, handling, braking, and all that in a four door lexus lexury feel.

I highly doubt the IS430 will come to the US. youare better off with the 2jz motor anyway... so get a turbo for your IS and you will be more then happy with the outcome..

That car is too much a concept to be tested at NuR yet... they don't test it on the track till it's got a lot more bugs worked out, they havn't even agreed on a final sytle why would they be testing the car?
