Headlight Adjustment Sensor??
Hello everyone,
My headlight adjustment malfunction light is on, and i have no idea how to fix it. Has anyone else had this happen? What do you think it will take to fix it, and how much will it cost me?
I followed the directions from a DIY thread found on My.is, but it just cut the system off by unpluging the wiring harness. When the harness is plugged back in the indecator light comes back on. I am trying to sell the vehicle and would like to resolve this issue ASAP.
Thank you in advace.

Hmm you may have a bad sensor. There is one by your driver side wheel and another by the rear driver side wheel. Sometimes the insides of the sensors get rusted and need to be cleaned up and if the springs are bad you can use ball point pen springs to replace.
I would check both sensors to make sure they are both still attached, Then pick the dirtiest one and start taking them apart and examine them. Open them up and check them out (very straight forward and simple). If they check out fine then you may just need to have them adjusted which you can look up some DIY around the web.

The sensors are not hard to see down there since there the really the only ones there. You'll know it because its kinda square and has 4 small phillips bolts that hold it together but I think 1 or 2 10mm bolts that hold the sensor mounted.
The trick is to get the bar that is connected to the sensor perfectly horizontal ----------

Well.. I located and removed both (front and rear) sensors this morning. I believe water has found it's way into the front sensor because 2 of the 3 springs inside were rusted. I used some some 400 grit sandpaper to remove as much of the rust as possible. When i reinstalled the front sensor, i could not get the bar perfectlly horizontal, so that may be why the indicator light is still on. i will get bck under there tomorrow to try to correct... its way too hot right now.
Does the bar for the rear sensor need to be mounted any specific way too?
Thanks again for your help!
