i'm trying to do this right now. going with a GEX-P7000TV unit as the Acura guys have been doing. however since only like 1 or 2 people have done this on an IS, there isn't much info. anyone have a service manual? or anyone have a wiring diagram or anything helpful?

Check in the electronics forum, there are about 4 or 5 threads about this. I ordered my conversion and it should be here on Monday, so it will go in next week. I am using the Pioneer P7000TV for the tuner and switcher and a Pioneer 6disc DVD changer in the trunk.

nav screen use RGB signal input, get the pins diagram for the nav from your local dealer, tap into those signals with your dvd player, which ever model that support RGB signals, then you can get TV up.
(R, G,B,SYNC,GRN) are the signals you need to look for.

Good point BananaGs, but then you can't switch back to navigation, because all the signal that going through the nav screen is the DVD movie. You still need the convertion kit from www.video-nav.com and the Pioneer GEX-P7000TV. To switch between Nav, TV, DVD and PS2 sources.

that is what the GEX-P7000TV unit is for, the unit acted as a switch devices and allow rgb signal from PS2 to come in the picture. you can just build a mechanical switch to switch back and forth the 4 signals that i had mentioned between your sources. Look under my webpage, I had successfully create a stand alone unit out of the OEM nav screen. All I need is a source that can put out rgb or convert S-video signal to rgb for me, that is what the GEX-P7000TV.
The GEX-P7000TV allows stock nav signal input, and allow other video inputs come into 1 rgb output to the screen. With a switch of a remote, you can change between them. There are not much to it.
here is the description of the Pioeer unit, notes: the allow rgb video input (stock nav), and 2 other aux video input(dvd,ps2...), and output rgb (to screen)

I havent look much into this, but as long as can control the gexp7000tv, you are set, may need some soldering or get the rgb cables, they are just cables, nothing special.
