Default My Key Broke - Advice?

I would imagine going to the Lexus dealership is about the most expensive route to do anything related to you car. With that being said, what is the best way to get a new key? My shell broke and I need to get a new one made.

Anyone out there had any experience with this that they can share or give some advice on?

There are sellers on ebay that will sell you a key cut to your VIN. That's the cheapest option.
The blanks themselves are about $4 a pop, cutting them can be as cheap as $10 or as much as $60 each so shop around.

I've bought blanks to a local place, cut them for $10 each. Same place two years later wanted $60 each.
I sent two normal blanks and one switchblade key off to a dealer in Texas to cut to my VIN. Got all 3 keys cut for less than $70.
If I were to get another oem style blank, I'd just get it off the vendor on ebay that cuts it for you.

I work in the Lexus parts department, a new key casing, which is a much better design, blade and having they key cut is 63.50.. You can get a key blank online, but it is a 50 percent chance it can be cut.. Some wont work on the key machine.

My second key just broke as well which makes both originals now cracked. I went to the Lexus dealer here in Hawaii and they quoted me $95 total for the replacement shell and key cutting. And that's with my military discount. I was about to order a couple of the cheap ones until I ran accross this post so now I'm debating if I should just go with the dealer.

on ebay look up 1010keys i think thats their name. I just broke both my keys. I bought two from them for 45 dollars cut. All you have to do is go to lexus with your registration and id and get your key code. when you buy the keys from 1010keys just send them the key code when you purchase and they arrive cut. I bought the flip blade keys but they have regular keys as well.
