you can swap either, it just takes a lot of work electrically to swap and knowing that some of your dash gauges won't work period...

you could also turbo and build the factory motor, then swap a V160 (V161 is a better choice due to rear gear ratio) in later...

webcosc4, my friend has a GTE 6speed swapped 03. Its is an originally auto. to keep all his gauges working he has the stock ecu piggy backed to the GTE ecu. The stock auto has codes for the auto tranny missing and that all. The engine it self runs off the GTE ecu and is tuned with a SAFC. He make 418whp with a BW 67 and 550cc inj at 16lbs. So it is doable the big cost after the purchase he said was a clutch $2300.

I have a Sport cross wagon with a W58 (not boosted yet) and all my gauges work.

hope this helps.

Yup, gotta keep the stock ecu to keep all of your gauges, whether AEM EMS, or another ecu running the engine...

There is a lot of info on the swap on the web to study but money would be the main thing with the swap a mkiv supra 6 speed motorset is around 8 grand! you could just about build your motor and turbo it for that.
