Hey guys I have had my Lexus IS300 for about 4 months now and it just hit 100K miles, I have had ZERO issues with it at all. However, I do want that streak to continue so I was curious with everyone that has owned that specific generation

What kind of maintenance would you guys recommend?

I have heard mixed reviews on getting engine and tranny flushed. What is your experience?

The SEARCH FUNCTION might tell you recommended intervals but a "major tuneup" just because your mileage says so sounds like a great way to waste money.

I know what is recommended but I only do what is needed. At 90k the timing belt was good so I kept on rolling.

I hit 130k before the timing belt and transmission fluid needed replacing. I have replaced the brake pads once and serpentine belt twice. The engine mounts are just now causing excessive vibration.

Regularly watch your fluids for drops in levels, burning or cloudiness. Watch serp & timing belts for cracks & wear. Measure brake pads, tire tread. Then maintain as needed. I easily go 7500 on Mobil 1 and it comes out just as clean as the new oil going in.

For vibration, examine engine mounts, pull the belt and check pulleys for play. Maintain as needed.

For steering or suspension decay look for uneven tire wear, examine bushings, springs/shocks, ball joints, etc. Maintain as needed.

If a mechanic recommends something, they should be able to show you the difference between what you've got and a new part or fluid. Go to another shop and see if the notice the same.
