Default Coolant question

I have a 01 auto with 137k miles on it, well I have been noticing my temp gage was a little higher than my past is300s. So I took the cap off to inspect the coolant and get a nasty surprise, apparently the dumb *** that had the car before me mixed the green cheap stuff with the factory red. Long story short I bought the $35 red Toyota coolant and some distilled water. I drained the old, did my measurements and filled it back up with distilled water, ran it 15mins with heat on and cut the car off, drained it. Once it cooled I put the proper mixture and exact amount of coolant/distilled water back in, all extra went in the overflow. So here's my problem, my temp gage goes back to the same place, is there anything else I should do?! Thanks guys

I would try and confirm that your fans are kicking on. Typically the thermostat will open around 185 degrees F and the fans will kick on around 200 degree F. I recently purchased an infared thermometer from autozone and measured at the metal coolant pipe entering the top side of the radiator to confirm this same thing.

Same! My gauge has been like that for 8 years now lol. Nothing to be worried about.

That's where mine has been at for 8k with normal green prestone, although not mixed with the factory high mileage stuff.
