Default new or used?

I plan to purchase a 2002-2003 Lexus IS300....

Is it worth buying a new 2003 model for $30,000 or going with a used 2002 w/ 25,000 miles for about $25,000..
and is stick shift(5/6 speed) better or automatic ........

appreciate it

The interest rate is less than 4% for 48 and 60 months loan at my CU. I would question whether I want to spend an extra $100 a month on a $30K new IS. Whether I think $5000 is fair for 25K miles......
Auto or manual is a personal preference.

I personally thought it worth while to wait a while for the right used IS300 to pop up on Autotrader/ Cars.com/ local newspapers. I waited 7 months but and finally found that right IS300.

I got a GGP Black Leather on Suede with every other option except the worthless DVD navigation system. I'm saving about $150 a month in car payments had I bought the car new. This alone makes me think it's worth while buying used. The seller bought the car new 10 months ago and sold it to me for $6K less then what he payed for it. Is that $6K lost really worth having a new car??

IF you buy it new you will be able to pick whatever car/color/options you want! That's a perk!

Default a little insight

Well first of all, I would take the IS for 5k less, and take the 5k and mods it . Depending on what mods you are into, you can def get some rims and audio/video stuff, performance stuff, or more exterior styling stuff. Just putting on a body kit and rims seperates your IS from 99% of the ISs on the road. Just some insight....btw on the manual vs. automatic question, that is pure 100% preference. Manual is obviously more fun to drive, but also more work to drive. If you are driving frequently in cities or traffic areas, I would say go for the automatic.

Default do some shopping in LA

Get a new one. If your credit is good you can get around 3-3.9% from the dealer and a huge discount. Check out my thread from earlier today about getting a new IS! Good luck!

25,000 miles for $5,000 less is too many miles for me. I found many IS300 at autotrader under 10,000 miles for less than $25k. Transmission is personal preference and I prefer A/T.

I'm also in the market for an IS300. Both new and used have their pros and cons each. Something that's drawing me more to a pre-owned one are:

1) You get the car after the large loss in it's initial value.
2) Registration costs are much lower

But like mentioned above, you have to search for the right pre-owned one you want unlike when you buy it brand new, you get your choices of what you want and in color.

used I think you can save some money and still get a good car and with the leftover cash get some goodies for it.

Used all the way.

Buying used from a private seller also saves you from having to pay dealship TAXES.

The taxes on a new IS are at least $1500.
