Question painting carbon fiber

ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON PAINTING CARBON FIBER...I WANT THE DUAL VENTED CARBON FIBER HOOD BUT I DONT WANT THE CARBON FIBER AND I CANT FIND IT IN FIBERGLASS...HOW GOOD DOES IT COME OUT WHEN PAINTED??? IS IT THE SAME AS PAINTING REGULAR FIBERGLASS..CAN U JUST SAND OFF THE CLEAR COAT?? THANX IN ADVANCE

phillzpeed painted his double vented CF hood...try pm'ng him....you can find him on www.JDMautoworks.com.......he's a mod there, so you will contact him......he can help you out.........

Any body shop could paint it for you, an adhesion promoter may be added to the paint in order for it to bond to the Gel-Coat.

I painted my carbon fiber hood on my civic. The shop I went to didn't take any special precautions. They just treated it like any other hood they would paint. sand, primer, paint, and wetsand. Till this day, the hood still looks great. No flakes or anything. I'll post some pics if I can find some. Or if you have Access magazine in your area, you can pick up the new issue for july and my civic is featured on there.

Yep, I only painted part of mine though.

All you have to do is sand down the clearcoat and paint, just like fiberglass...

THANX A LOT EVERYONE FOR THE INFO I APPRECIATE IT...HOWS THE FITMENT ON UR CF HOODS I'VE SEEN SOME WHERE IT DOESNT EVEN LOOK LIKE ITS MADE FOR THE CAR THE FITMENT WAS TERRIBLE..BUT I' VE SEEN SOME THAT LOOK GOOD....ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT...THANX AGAIN
