Default Must Go Faster

Hi guys...been a long time reader in this Forum...and I'm glad to be one of the IS300 owners. I just have something in mind...What is the best Mod for your car to gaing HP and Tourqe...without the Turbo (you know the cost of it) I just raced a EVO VIII for fun last week and low and behold I lost to it...but it was pretty close until the EVO took over with the Turbo...I have Toyomoto Headers, Injen Intake, Tanabe Exhaust, Fuel Controller (which is not tuned yet), and PLP shortshifter...I was able to Dyno my car and I got 172 HP and 184 Torque.....I was looking into investing a NOS...about 75 shot...What do you guys think? You think it will harmful for the engine?...I will also purchase some Cam gears and Pulleys.....Please give me your opinions all you Speed Demon expert out there!!!!!

With the mods you have you should be over 172hp.

probably in the tuning, but who knows, guessing it's auto, maybe there are uncorrected #'s for his altitude. but since you have all the air flow mods, I bet the nitous would be a nice kick in the pants

Eyes300 mentioned that he or she had a plp short shift kit so that means its a manual and manuals have around 175 to 185 hp stock, maybe he is loosing power somewhere but he also mentioned that the air fuel controller has not been tuned yet that might be the cause of the low hp numbers.

Thanks for all of your inputs.. ..for your info...I'm a male from Illinois who owns a 2002 IS300 (Manual) Graphite Grey Pearl...any how back to the subject.....so your saying...Amy and Onyx with the mods I have I should have more than 172 HP....and with the manual I have the stock on those are between 175-185....hmmm....either I'm losing power somewhere.....or I took my car to a Dyno and I got an inaccurate reading....I don't know how I'm losing that much power then.....Maybe its because my Fuel Controller is not tuned yet.....for those of you who have there Fuel Controller tuned....what is the best settings for those...or it depends what mods you have????

yes with what you have added you should definately have over 172.

you know one more thing that could be a factor is where you got your car dynoed. i have really no clue what the difference is but i read a thread just the other day where a guy was complaining about the power his car had and someone asked him if he went to a mustang dyno or something because one dynos lower than the other or something like that i dunno. maybe if you did a search for something like that in the last couple of days you might find it so you can see what they said.

Yes, 215 at the crank... At the wheels we are discussing. There is a 15% drivetrain loss for manual and about 20 for automatic when transferred to the wheels.

I am planning on probably buying a IS 300, but i have to ask, aren't they like 215 hps. I am seeing hps like 172 and so forth being kicked around here. I thought the IS300 was 215 hps. BTW, I had a 93 gs300 and I raced this IS once, and I beat him. I was kinda mad I beat him, because I knew I wanted to buy one (is300)eventually. Maybe I will just skip it and get a gs 430. What do you guys think, are they (IS 300) that slow.

Stats of IS300 from Motor Trend:
02 IS300 L-TUNE 5M 0-60 6.6 1/4M 15.0
02 IS300 SportCross 5A 0-60 7.6 1/4M 15.7
01 IS300 5A 0-60 7.4 1/4M 15.5

Is 15.0-15.7 1/4M slow? Depends on whether your current car is faster or slower than these numbers

sell your parts, and invest in a PowerHouse Racing Stage2 Turbo netting you 500+ WHP and Torque! You can say bye bye to ferrari's and literally every stock car out there, except for those crazy 800 hp supras. BUt those are rare and you will most likely never see more htan 5 different ones in your lifetime=)
