Default Why would you buy an IS300?

List out a pro and con for the IS! This will help provide "insider" information for potential IS buyers.

Pro:
Beautiful styling, love the HIDS

Con:
Not enough hp for a 30k "sports/luxury" sedan!

My only con would be ummm, can't think of any, looked at all the rest, sure some are faster, but for all around, I think it takes the cake. I'm nearly a 1 year happy owner, Sept. 1 here I come.

Pros:
  • Good balance of performance and luxury. Makes a good daily driver with lots of performance to spare when you need it.
  • It made me a better driver. It also made me realize that HP numbers doesn't mean jack unless the car has the handling to back it up.
  • Lots of mod potential

Cons:
  • It's the top-of-line model of what is originally a $20k car. This is not what you would expect if you're looking for traditional "Lexus luxury".
  • The current generation is getting old. The design's been available since '99 model year.

Pro:
Beautiful styling
HIDs
Feels like butter on the highway
Handles well
Reliability
Unique (I don't see that many IS300 running around here)

Con:
Not enough hp for a 30k "sports/luxury" sedan!
CRC on the clutch (RETARDED)
soft feel on the road (I would this car to have BMWs "road feel" - but I guess I would loose the butter ride hard compromise)
White IS300 = chick driver (at least around here) - not really a con ... just an observation

PRO: u look BAD *** in one, its a luxury car.. so when ur clubbing u can tell a girl/guy that u drive a LEXUS, teh car is a nice and sproty 4 DOOR, easy access not like a coupe, similar 2jz-ge supra motor so for all u heads that know MOTORS it's not hard to modify, handles great, driving it is FUN..

CON: not enough horsepower for an JDM enthusiast , when it was first released back in 99-01 only came in AUTO the car itself is heavy, but remember its a LUXURY car, since its a newwer model car there are SOOO many computer chips and wirings that will KILL u if u try to play wiht and dont know exactly what ur doing,

when u own one uwill LOVE it.. trust me no one can really go wrong with buying an is3 these days bc they do come in 5 speed now and the knowledge to modify these things are on the rise and ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE....

Let's try to stay on topic. I don't see it as a poor man's Lexus since I chose to buy a turbo IS 300 over other "exotic" cars.
