My brother got a new car around the same my car broke down. He gave me his 2004 IS300. It has 154k miles. Is there anything that should be done at 150k miles? There's a sticker on the engine that says the timing belt was switched at 145k miles. The front squeaks when I go over a speed bump on the way down. I'm sure it has the original shocks so I'm going to get struts put in. If you have a recommendation on some affordable struts for this car I would really appreciate it. I wont drive this car that much only on the weekends maybe putting 6k to 7k miles a year.

Inspect the suspension and lube it. Look over the brakes etc.. Normal stuff.

A drain and fill of the transmission fluid is probably a good idea. Or find out it it has ever been done at least. Do you plan on modifying or lowering the car? Now is the time for lowering springs or coilovers. Otherwise you're wasting money on the struts for right now.

Other things to ask your bro about are when it last had spark plugs done, has the throttle ever been cleaned out, any other fluids replaced, look at the brakes and tires for your safety. Most shops will give you a free complete vehicle checkover if you give the idea that you are willing to drop money on repairs. Then just take the list of estimates and say you need time to consider it.
